PR2 vs Page Authority 65
-
Looking at a website that has a Google Toolbar rank of 2. Moz Authority is 65. Why would there be such a huge difference? Site has been around since 2000 but has not been updated. Mosst of the links are from 3000 links all owned by the same person.
-
With this type of discrepancy, that's often the case. Either the site has been penalized or the linking sites have been devalued in some way (say, a link network). DA/PA basically model the raw strength of the link profile, but they don't account for some quality factors.
Of course, that assumes the toolbar PR is up-to-date and accurate, which is a fairly big assumption these days, IMO.
-
Ok...let me rephrase...
In general what reasons do you usually see for such a wide discrepancy from Da to PR?
Thanks for your help.
-
I'm not assuming anything, but wanted to just make you aware of how we calculate things.
-
So since the Da is so different that the Toolbar PR you are assuming it is some type of spam penalty? Perhaps because almost all of the inbound links are from the same domain owner?
-
Moz currently doesn't have any type of spam score when looking at the DA of a site, so that could be another factor -- Google has dropped the toolbar PR because of spam, yet we don't take that into account.

Hi Ebetc,
Mostly look at the frequency that both metrics gets updated. PageRank hasn't been updated for months and before that update not for over a year. Moz's metrics have been updated on a monthly basis and are a bit more accurate and compare it most cases quite good to a PageRank equivalent.

Hello,
The Google PR has been deprecated, the time in time it is updated by Google, when I'm looking for good links, I prefer to see other indicators in this order:
1. Google PR (only if it is PR=0) - site potentially penalized.
2. Domain Authority / Page authority.
3. Alexa Rank (give an idea about the site traffic and its authority).
I hope it helps

Lots of 404s listed in Top Pages by Page Authority
Hi guys, I'm slowly getting to grips with all the aspects of using Moz.

Looking at my link analysis, under the tab labelled Top Pages by Page Authority, there's an awful lot of 404 pages listed. Are these pages which are being linked to (either internally or externally), and should I put a 301 redirect on all the pages listed? I've attached a picture... moz-screen-shot.jpg0 -
All ranked pages on Googles SERP only links to home
I got a problem regarding my website called musik.dk, and hope you guys are able to help. I just got my first ranking results from Moz. My question is: All my keywords are linking to the home page, and not the artist page? For examples if I were to search on Rihanna on Google, then when musik.dk appears on the SERP, it only links to the home, and not musik.dk/rihanna.. This problem applies to all the given artists ranked on Googles SERP, it never shows the artist page itself, only links to home. Let me know if you need any information, and I gladly supply, this is kind of frustrating to me.. As a note: all pages besides the home has a PA of 1, and it doesn't really seem to change. Aren't domain.com/page and domain.com/page/ the same thing?
Hi All, A recent Moz scan has turned up quite a few duplicate content notifications, all of which have the same issue. For instance: domain.com/page and domain.com/page/ are listed as duplicates, but I was under the impression that these pages would, in fact, be the same page. Is this even something to bother fixing or a fluke scan? If I should fix it does anyone know of an .htaccess modification that might be used? Thanks!

Too many on-page links
I received a warning in my most recent report for too many on-page links for the following page: http://www.fateyes.com/blog/. I can't figure out why this would be. I am counting between 60-70 including all pull downs, "read more's", archive, category and a few additional misc. links. Any ideas or suggestions on this? Or what I might do to rectify? Perhaps it's just an SEOmoz report blip... We currently don't have the post list rolling to additional pages so it's kind of passively set up to be endless, but it's in the works.

Duplicate page content on / and index.php
Hi I am new to SEOmoz and in the crawl diagnostics for one of my clients it came back duplicate content on the homepage www.myclient.co.uk and on the www.myclient.co.uk/index.php which is obviously the same page. I understand that the key is to do a 301 redirect from the index to /, however how will I know that this will not just create an ever ending loop on the server? From your experience how is the best way to tackle this crawl error? Also is there a specific question that I need to ask the server?

Can I do a campaign for just a page?
We've been doing a lot of building and work on just one category page, but when i try to put it in the campaign it won't let me do any url that has a sub folder like www.mainsite.com/keyword-page. I can only do www.mainsite.com, and when i select the other campaign options like root domain or sub folder, roger pops up with an error. Is anyone else having this problem?
