Why are no-follow links in my blog comments across the web showing up as "equity-passing"?
-
When I make comments on blog posts (and there's a link in my comment or my name is the link to my site), the links are always no-follow (as they should be). But, when I check Open Site Explorer, the new links show up as equity-passing. Are they actually passing equity or is this a mistake?
-
Hi Grobro
Do you have any other links that we are counting as follow that are using the "external nofollow" tag? Our devs are trying to find a pattern to rule out the possibility of the link not set as nofollow when we originally crawled it.
-
Hi Grobro
Thank you for the example! I have our devs investigating and will let you know what I find out.
-
Yes, for example the comments on this page (selbstaendig-im-netz.de/2014/08/12/blogs/aufbau-eines-blog-business-tipps-fehler-und-erfahrungen-interview-mit-dem-affenblog) are nofollow, thats the code:
In Open Site Explorer they are listed under equity passing.

Hi Grobro
Can you provide me with an example?

Sorry for bringing up this thread again, I have the same problem. When I check the links of a competitor, it shows nofollow comments as equity passing. It seems like a mistake..
Best regards!

Hello!
A fix has been released and you should no longer see no-followed links marked as having link equity!
Thank you for pointing this out to us

Hello!
We have confirmed there is a front-end issue that is counting the links as followed but not from our API. We will have this patched up pretty quick!
-
Hello!
This does seem very strange as it should not be counting nofollow links. I have one of our engineers looking into this and will let you know what I find out!

Link Explorer Export
Does anyone know how to export more than 50 keywords at a time from Link Explorer? I'm trying to extract the keywords from a competitor domain to do some analysis/big data queries. I'm using the link Explorer but I can't see any way to export more than 50 keywords at a time! The total I can export seems to be around 100k but it's going to take a very long time if I've got to do 50 at a ago!

Links to non-exisiting pages
Hi, I have tons of incoming links to target pages on my website that do not exist. If you follow the link you get a 404 error. The anchor text is always a "spammy" non related text. Does anyone know what is happening and how to get rid or block these links? Thanks, Dirk

Is the Link Tracking Lists feature broken?
I used to be able to create a list of links via Link Tracking Lists and within 8 days Moz bot would visit and index the links in the Moz database. However, this no longer works. Is it broken? I have used this previously without issues, and tried several times over 20 days, but nothing. Anyone else having issues? Moz support - is this feature broken? If so, when do you envisage having it fixed? Thanks

How can I get links indexed in Just Discovered Links, or Open site Explorer? (Because it aint Bit.ly or Feedly!)
Dear Moz & Forum, I've been on a bit of a merry-go-round with one of my clients. He knows enough about SEO to ask questions, and one thing he likes is to see the links that we are building inside Open Site Explorer. Now, of course we know that it takes a while for links to show, but that was ok, because we could just plug the links that we've built into a bit.ly link and then they'd show under Just Discovered Links in Open Site Explorer, and then boom, we're happy. It stopped working some time ago, and after the support team were a little unstuck I sent a hopeful tweet to @randfish. Here is the response: https://twitter.com/randfish/status/788412272129347584 The advice to use Bit.Ly was removed swiftly after this! Oops! The current Guidance is here: https://mza.seotoolninja.com/help/guides/research-tools/open-site-explorer/justdiscovered It says: Want to see your new link in the Just-Discovered Links tab? An easy way to start seeing your link in the Just-Discovered section is to have it shared on Twitter and available on Feedly link. Feedly stopped supporting their own link shortner a few years ago. Also, when you share a link from Feedly on twitter it is just the same as sharing a normal tweet, because it shares the standard URL for the site not a link to view on Feedly. Or, maybe these two statements are independant of one another and they should both be done separately? I've done that too! I've also added the feed to recommended feeds inside fresh web explorer and that didn't work either! So, Moz and Help team please help me! How can I get links I've built for clients into Just Discovered Links? Thank you!

Why do links from UCAS to London South Bank University not get reported as external links
Links on the following page at UCAS http://search.ucas.com/provider/1504/london-south-bank-university?Vac=1&AvailableIn=2015&ProviderQuery=london south bank university&ret=providers do not appear to be listed as external links in Open Site Explorer reports. For example there is a link on the UCAS page to http://www.lsbu.ac.uk/schools-departments . But when I check the Open Site Explorer report for http://www.lsbu.ac.uk/schools-departments no link from UCAS is recorded.

Removing the clutter of site-wide links
I have a multi-part question with regard to the moz link index and some presentation suggestions. Firstly I would be interested to know how the link index treats site-wide links with regard to metrics such as DA, and PA. We all know that it is highly likely that SE's are unlikely to pass full link value across from sitewide links, and therefore it would make sense for Moz values to account for this as well - if they do not already. One annoying thing that also relates to sitewides is that they tend to clutter the much of the information presentation in a few of the tools (you can't see wood for trees as it were). This is most prominent in the "Just Discovered" page - if you have a sitewides on a large site, you can often find that this screen is just totally filled with these links as they are found. It would be very useful to be able to filter these out, as they are of little interest - currently I can't see a way of filtering them out. A further value where they create to much noise is the 'Total Links' value. Where sitewides are included in this value, the value actually becomes pretty meaningless as you can find that the majority of that value is sitewides. It would therefore be useful if there was another value for 'Total Links - Excluding Sitewides' where maybe value of 1 was just added to the count for a site wide
