Find blog post idea
-
How do I find blog post ideas for my website blog when there are only very few questions people have.
I am a tour operator operator and the the keywords I target are Provence bike tour, Normandy bike tour , Tuscany bike tour and so on.
I am trying to to find blog ideas to create a topic cluster for those pillar pages.
Any advice on how to find blog ideas that could boost my pillar pages.
Thank you,
-
What questions do people have when they contact you? That's a content idea. What questions do people ask on Quora? Trip Advisor? bicycling forums? What FAQs do your competitors have? Take that FAQ content as an idea, then write a whole blog post (if there's enough content) and start to outrank them.

Given the fact that we are all trying to enhance the SEO of our sites, I'd probably take a different tact. I'd go ask those sites for a coupon to share with my Readers and then ask site would throw a link up about my bike tours on their site.

Good idea. Owners of those businesses might pay to have ads or an entire page on the site.

I suggest writing about unique buildings on the tour and your favorite bars and restaurants on the tour. You might even create a sample Pub Crawl tour that follows your bike route. Engage different readers who can become potential customers.

I agree being excited and interested about what you write is the ingredient to success.
Thank you for your multiple replies.

The articles will boost your stature as a bike tour provider. It will show visitors that you have expertise and are doing more than trying to sell them on a tour. They might visit your site more of often to consult this information.
If you do a great job on the articles they will attract links that will power your entire site. They will bring traffic that might like and link to your bike tour pages. And the visitors might help your revenue stream.
This type of content is a lot of work. I would not do it if you only intent to write a few of these articles. If you don't believe in it then doing a good job will be difficult. I am only telling you how I might build a strong site in the bike tour space. I have an interest in the topics of these articles, have benefited from the knowledge and I think that others might appreciate the information.
Being excited and interested in what you are writing is the main ingredient for being successful.

Thank you for your reply but my question is :
Will those articles you mention that I should write help boost my pillar pages ?
For example how can an article " hydration in hot vs cold weather" boost "Provence bike tour" or "Normandy bike tour" ?
It isn't related to any of those regions ?
Maybe there is something that I didn't get but I though that to boost pillar pages you need to write about something similar like.
Luxury hotels in Provence or Provencal drinks ?
Thank you,

The keywords I target are Provence bike tour, Normandy bike tour, Tuscany bike tour.
These are the best and most obvious keywords for the tours that you offer. However they are limited because they will only position your tours in front of people who are searching for the geographic areas that you serve.
If you write articles on general bike touring and long-distance cycling topics, they will be seen by a much larger audience. People looking for tours in parts of the world that you do not serve will read them, and if you impress them, you might successfully lure them into one of your tours.
I have done a lot of cycling and believe that articles about what to eat on the road, how much to drink, water vs prepared drinks, hydration in hot vs cold weather, types of clothing for hot weather, clothing for warm weather, bags, shoes and cleats, protective wear, what to carry in the bag, rapid flat repair, tools, glasses... I could go on and on.
These articles will be helpful for your clients, but if you can do a fantastic job with great descriptions and photos, you might compete for really big world wide traffic and expand your tours to an entirely new group of people. Perhaps you have done some of this, if not, I would write a few of these with the goal of building up a big tome of articles for global competition. These articles might also be a source of ad revenue with adsense (blocking your competitors) or affiliate sales.
I am almost tempted to start a bike site if I didn't have my foot on the throat of my long time competitors.

Blog migration
Hi We have 4 websites - 1 for company and 3 for each products. Currently all our blog posts are located on the company website company.com/blog. We will be separating out the blog so that product blogs will be in each product website. i.e. from company.com/blog to: company.com/blog product1.com/blog product2.com/blog product3.com/blog This is with the aim of helping SEO for each of the product websites; and improving user experience so users can easily navigate around the product pages if they are reading a blog post on the product. So now we have to consider migration. We will migrate/copy over all blog posts to each of the relevant product websites, but should we: A. keep the old blog posts on company.com/blog and do a rel=canonical B. only show blog preview on company.com/blog which will link to the new product.com/blog (and using 301 redirect) C. 301 redirect all blog posts from company.com/blog altogether Any suggestions on which of the above options to take would be greatly appreciated in terms of SEO and other considerations

Loads of Blog Search Results showing up in SERPs - What's the best way to remove?
Our client has a good number of results showing up in SERPs that are search results pages produced by Blog posts. Unfortunately all these results have exactly the same Title tag and it has nothing to do with the blog content which means they are unlikely to help us much. We can’t create a 301 redirect because there is no page to redirect. There is no blog page we can re=canonical to either. The content on these pages is a short list of blog posts by each author. They are not true “Author” pages that would have a URL structure like this: your company.com/author/joeblow Our plan is to use GWMT's URL removal tool to request remove of these pages. (and then try to stop new results from being created) We are doing this to get low-value content out of the SERP. Is there a better way to remove these search results? Any drawback in removing them in GWMTs? Thanks.

Best way to handle blogs for a customer with a chain business?
I have a new customer who owns three local gyms. Each one has its own unique url. I intend to do some blogging for him, and would like it to be effective for SEO. Obviously, publishing duplicate content is out, but writing tons of new posts each month is beyond our scope. Would you recommend having one separate blog (with its own url) that is linked from each of the 3 main sites, or would it be better to create a blog on each site and alternate publishing articles on each one, putting a unique intro and link to the main post on the other two?

Company blog relaunch. Best practices with Google Algorithm updates in mind?
We have a company blog living on our corporate domain. The blog contained many posts with keywords and we believe google is penalizing us for over optimization as we use to be ranked in the top 5 for our main keyword now we're on page 8. Keeping this in mind, we are planning to relaunch the blog and we wanted to get some tips on best practices that addressing the following questions. Should we archive _all _of our previously published content and start fresh with this relaunch? Should we keep 50 or so published blogs visible? Where should this blog live (on our domain or a wholly separate domain)? We'd love to get thoughts and opinions, and any insight about best practices for a blog relaunch.

Blog Influencer's tool
Hi Mozzers, Can you help me with something please. I need a tool (preferably free or low cost) to find a list of influencers (blog or some types of publication) in a particular marketplace. Step 2 would be to see if we can then syndicate content but I need to find them first. Obviously there Google blog finder and general searches, I've used other tools in the past but a long time ago - what are people using now and what's the best? Thanks B

Is the Page Authority/Rank of my corporate site affected by my blog's PA/PR and vice versa?
If I host my blog on my corporate site (it is a wordpress blog) will the page authority and page rank of my site translate to the blog? And does this also go the other way around? My gut says this would make sense, and I think I have seen it in action with other corporate sites that host their wordpress blogs, but I want to be completely sure. Even better, if someone can explain to me how this works, that would be super helpful!

Looking for advice on blog implementation...
I am getting ready to implement a blog for my company. We have our website controlled through a commercial Content Management System that has a blog feature, but it is cumbersome to use and doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a Wordpress blog for example. I know for SEO purposes that we would be better to use the CMS blog and make it a subfolder (www.mysite.com/blog) instead of using a subdomain (blog.mysite.com). However, we would like to use the hosted WordPress blog and find a way to retain the same SEO value for our www.mysite.com site that it would provide being a subfolder on the site. Any suggestions? Installing Word Press CMS on our current web servers is not an option. We would have to use Wordpress hosting services for the blog.
