Hotels Schema.org
-
I am looking at potentially using some Schema mark up on hotel listing pages. This is for an OTA where lots of hotels from all over the world are available for selection (think hotels.com, booking.com, agoda.com etc)
For the itemscope itemtype on say the hotel name should I be defining it as http://schema.org/hotel or http://schema.org/localbusiness
For example against the hotel name I would have:
Grand Plaza Hanoi
I assume its the former, but I was just after some 2nd opinions.
Thanks,
Ben

Their current solution seems to be something along the lines of:
***** Rating: 8.4/10 - 900 Reviews
almost forcing two different review "views" into the same listing, which seems a little dumb from a UI perspective.

Thanks again,
This is an area where Google seem a bit pants to be honest. I have seen loads of examples where a hotel might have a rating of 7 out of 10 and Google shows 5 stars in the rich snippet data.
Not exactly a great user experience right there.

Boom:
<div< span="">itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Rating">
<meta< span="">itemprop="worstRating" content = "1">
<span< span="">itemprop="ratingValue">1</span<>/
<span< span="">itemprop="bestRating">5</span<>stars</meta<></div<>See this URL for better details: http://schema.org/Review
For the overall rating, you'll want to use http://schema.org/AggregateRating which can also be done on a larger scale.
I have only seen examples of Google using 5 star reviews in their rich snippets. I have not yet seen an example of 4 or 10 star rankings used in rich snippets. Maybe they'll adopt it down the road, maybe they'll convert to 5 stars, or maybe they'll continue ignoring it. Perhaps just consider displaying the aggregate rating as a 5 star scale, and the rest as 10?

Thanks Kane - looks like I am on the right track then. The other area I am struggling on is the mark up around reviews / star ratings.
i.e., what happens if your star ratings aren't out of 5? Google seems to make a mess of the display. I.e., I can find a hotel with a rating of 7/10 where Google will show it as 5 star in the results set.
So do I try and force the adoption of using a scale from 1-5 or is it possible to use schema mark up on a 1-10 scale?

Yup, take a look at the microdata generator for restaurants (none built for hotels yet that I have seen):
http://www.microdatagenerator.com/restaurant-schema
That gives you a good comparison for how the hotel format should look. Here's an example implementation for a restaurant:

As this schema is generated by Yoast plugin, I haven't applied any custom steps. Recently I published a post https://dailycontributors.com/kisscartoon-alternatives-and-complete-review/ and I tested it at two platforms of schema test 1, Validator.Schema.org
2. Search.google.com/test/rich-results So the validator generate results as follows and shows no error
Schema without error.PNG It shows no error But where as Schema with error.PNG in search central results it gives me a warning "Missing field "url" (optional)". So is this really be going to issue for my ranking ? Please help thanks!6 -
Correct use of schema for online store and physical stores
I have been getting conflicting advice on the best way to implement schema for the following scenario. There is a central e-commerce store that is registered to it's own unique address which is "head office". There are a few physical shops each of which has their own location and address. Each shop has its own landing page within /our-stores/. So each page on the website has the Organisation schema for the central 'organisation', something like: Then on each physical store landing page is something like the following as well as the Organisation schema: Is this correct? If it is should I extend LocalBusiness with store URL and sameAs for GMB listing and maybe Companies House registration? It's also been suggested that we should use LocalBusiness for the head office of the company, then Departmentwith the typeStore. But i'm not sure on that?

Schema for Banks and SEO
I'm researching Schema opportunities for a bank, but besides the shema markup available today (like bankorcreditunion) and developments with FIBO, I can find no answer as to the effect of tagging interest rates and such in terms of SERP/CTR performance or visibility. Does anyone have a case study to share or some insight on the matter?

Product Schema implementation
Hi Once you have added structured data to a web page, say adding 'product schema' to a product page how long can you reasonably expect before it take effects, ie. displays rich snippets ? Also in the case of product schema what triggers the display of the rich snippet ? is it a branded keyword and product title search or just a product title search or can it result from a generic keyword search too ? All Best Dan

How do i properly combine these two schema's from schema.org
So we're redoing our reviews/testimonials page on our website right now and moving over to the schema.org format as described here: http://schema.org/Review But we would like to combine each of our reviews with a location for which it was reviewed using this: http://schema.org/LocalBusiness What i can't wrap my head around would be the correct syntax? is it just the first block and then the next block? or is there a way of putting the actual physical address within the review page itself? So is this the correct way to do a page full of reviews that are reviewing various physical locations? * <div< span="">itemprop="reviews" itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"></div<>* <span< span="">itemprop="name">Value purchase</span<> -* by <span< span="">itemprop="author">Lucas</span<>,* <meta< span="">itemprop="datePublished" content="2011-03-25">March 25, 2011</meta<>* <div< span="">itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Rating"></div<>* <meta< span="">itemprop="worstRating" content = "1"/></meta<>* <span< span="">itemprop="ratingValue">4</span<>/* <span< span="">itemprop="bestRating">5</span<>stars* <span< span="">itemprop="description">Great microwave for the price. Schema.org for ecommerce
Hello, Has anyone got any experiences of using schema mark-up on an ecommerce site? If so, what has been the outcome since doing in? I am just wondering if it is worth marking up our products with the full product set of schemas and what the impact would be?
