Local listings squeeze out my SERP :-(

Buonjourno from 9 degrees C partly cloudy wetherby UK
Ive noticed website www.davidclick.com optimised for "York wedding photographer" has been squeezed off page 1 by local listings as illustrated here:http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/squeezed-out-by-local-listings_zpsd506cd71.jpg
But i do have a local listing and as good as any of the others that have squeezed the site out. So my question is please:
"Why has davidclick.com been pushed out of page 1 by a raft of local listings despite this site having a reasonably well optimised local site"?
Any insights welcome:)
Grazie Tanto,David

Hi David,
In addition to the typical citation sources (like those listed in the Search Engine Land article), there may be additional places you can list yourself that are specific to your niche. For example, a photographer's association site, or a truly local small directory in your town...things like that. Each vertical may have opportunities that aren't going to be listed in generic lists.
Nyagoslav Zhekov has been doing some interesting pieces on citations at his site. Check this out:
Looks like that piece might be a great fit for you!

Thank you so much for this But may i ask whats "Additional citation building" mean?

Buonjourno to you, David,
Local rankings take a ton of different factors into account - not only your own factors, but the factors of all of your competitors' as well. A strong local campaign typically involves:
-
Developing an awesome, locally-optimized website
-
Inclusion in the major local business indexes
-
Additional citation building
-
Review acquisition, over time
-
In competitive arenas, link building
That's just a quick rundown, but you have to take into account things like proximity to the centroid (how close are you to the center of business), web authority, and etc. Both organic and purely local factors all work together.
And, there is also the necessity of evaluating possible problems, such as duplicate or merged listings splitting your ranking power, lack of consistency in citations, penalties for over-optimization, Google bugs and etc.
All of these things need to be taken into account, so, as you can imagine, there isn't a simple answer to your question without a couple of hours of deep digging to discover your weaknesses and potential opportunities for improvement.
I recommend that you read:

http://www.davidmihm.com/local-search-ranking-factors.shtml

That's a lot to read, but a good place to start in your investigation of your possible problems and areas of potential improvement. Hope this helps!

that's why its important to be in the local top 10 make sure your local listing connects to your website right....
Then build the citations... I think google is gonna push the local more and more

Thank you, good answer & yes i'll get the smiley icon scratched

If you use the mozbar, its domain auth is lower then any other result on the first page.
Few things on a side note, I personally would remove the from the title tag and also work out why your manual meta description is not being pulled through to the SE.
Idea: Maybe you could add social buttons to the galleries for each photo. Idea being people from the wedding like/share/tweet pictures they are in which generates exposure and social signals. Something I think would be very shareable.

Can google bots read my internal post links if they are all listed in a javascript accordian where I list my sources?
I post a JavaScript accordion drop down tab [ a collapsible content area ] at the end of all my posts. I labeled the accordion "Show Article Sources"., and when a user clicks it, then the accordion expands open and it shows all the sources I listed for my article. And this is where I post all of my articles links that I reference per each article. But I read somewhere that google crawlers can not read text in a drop down JavaScript tab. So I am wondering now if this is true because that would mean I have no internal linking SEO going on since it cant read the links? ..... if it is true, then I should remove the accordion from all my articles and some how include the links I reference in the actual body text so I can get SEO benefits from external linking similar content? If that's true, what is an aesthetic way to do this, any example links? Tips ? Thoughts ?

Page Authority for localized version of website
Hello everyone, I have a case here were I need to decide which steps to take to improve page authority (and thus SEO value) for the German pages on our site. We localized the English version into German at the beginning of 2015. www.memoq.com - English de.memoq.com - German By October 2015 we implemented href tags so that Google would index the pages according to their language. That implementation has been successful. There is one issue though: At that time, all our localized pages had only "1" point for Page Authority ("PA" in the Moz bar). At the beginning we though that this could be due to the fact that localization was done using subdomains (de.memoq.com) rather that subfolders (www.memoq.com/de). However, we decided not to implement changes and to let Google assess the work we had done with the href tags. Its been a while now, and still all our German pages keep having only "1" point for page authority. Plus we have keywords for which we rank in the top 10 in English (US Google Search), but this not the case for the translated version of the keywords for German (Germany Google search). So my question basically is: Is this lack of page authority and SEO value rooted in the fact that we used subdomain instead of subfolder for the URL creation. If so is it likely that Page Authority for German pages and SEO value will increase if I change the structure from subdomains to subfolders? Or is it that the problem in PA is rooted somewhere else that I am missing? I appreciate your feedback.

Google Displaying wrong URL but correct page title and description in SERPS
Hi. Our second highest performing page on Google is messed up in the SERPS. This is our login page. It always ranks high. It still does, but the URL is incorrect. Google is referencing an old redirect that was for a one off campaign from January 2014. This page has long been redirected. But now the vanity url for this page is what is displayed in Google. The link goes to our login page but once you log in it redirects you to a page saying the offer has expired instead of your account details. This is a huge issue for us. Can anyone shed some light? I'm having a rel canonical added since this page is used for a lot of vanity deeplinks.

Will this affect the local SEO listings in Google?
So, I'm trying to list the same exact address across all local listings for a client. How "exact" do they all need to match in order for them to be optimized for the 7-pack listings? Here is an example of what I'm dealing with... 999 Cherry Ln #1 Dallas, TX 75238 - Address on Google Plus page 999 Cherry Ln Ste 1, Dallas, TX 75238 - Address on every other business listing Is this close enough or is this inconsistency really hurting this client?

Frustrating Local Seo Question
I have just lost the top stop on Google Places (Pack 7) for one of my clients. The company that took it came out of nowhere to take the top stop. Now I don't mind getting out ranked when someone has worked hard to out rank me but what is frustrating is this site scores terrible across the board on just about every score that is supposed to determine on and off page ranking factors. The only place it outscores is in the link department but the site is so new there is no data available in OSE. The site has 0's and 1's for PA, MR and MT plus the keyword (kitchen remodeling) that it is taking the top spot for scores and F in the SEOMoz on page report card while the page that I optimized for this very same keyword scores an A. Plus this site has zero citations according to Bright Local Data. What Gives? Here is a little bit of data: Keyword: Kitchen Remodeling My Clients website is http://www.tandmkitchens.com Competitors website: http://www.njkitchendesigns.com I'm kicking his butt in every category except Domain Age and inbound link total, his inbound link total is 409 but it's only from 2 domains.
