RE: KW Difficulty Daily Limit |
This was the limit in the past, and at some point it was removed, and we discovered there was some extreme abuse of the system. We put back into place the 400 kws a day via the keyword difficulty tool a couple of days ago. We are open to modifying it if needed to meet your needs but make sure that our service availability is not impacted. [note: this doesn't mean that each individual user would get custom limits, we're just looking for what people use and figure out reasonable limits].
Do you often do more than 400 kws a day? Can you share the normal load used by your team?
Thanks!

RE: Spam link? Links from linguee
Someone also asked about this a year ago at http://moz.com/community/q/spam-link-links-from-linguee, if you want a few more opinions, or want to contact anyone to see how it ended up for them.

RE: QR codes, when to use them
Hi! This post mentions that Diego Gopen is the CEO at uQR.me. If you are Diego, can you please be sure to disclose that you have a relationship to the company you've been recommending in questions that have been dormant for 1-2 years? Thanks so much for understanding!
-
RE: Are qr codes still worth the effort.
Hi Diegopp, it looks like you might have a relation to this service you're promoting. If you do have a relation, could you please disclose the relation? Thanks!
Also, it looks like this post was an abstract of http://www.cnet.com/news/qr-codes-arent-useless-after-all-nielsen-study-says/, where the original posters might want to go to find more information.

RE: Replacing Metas and Keywords
One other item of note is that the search engines often choose their own title and snippet to display in the SERPs, even if you've specified something in your code, so you don't know if the person actually saw the title or description that you used.

RE: Bounce Rate Manipulated with Direct Traffic Spikes - Thoughts?
You're welcome. From the comments and the second post, it looks like this is being addressed by the ad providers, yet people are seeing another spike again in traffic in the past few days. Do take comfort that you're not alone and not being singled out!

RE: MoZ vs Alexa & Moz vs Google
I'm a Moz employee, so I'm biased, but here's some additional information that may help.
Google will give you a lot of your own links -- but not the information about links your competitors have.
For Alexa, I see they have more information now than just traffic info based off their toolbar, but I'm not entirely familiar with all they have to offer. Honestly, when people are looking at tools, I almost never hear someone talking about Alexa. It's usually Raven and other tools for this space.

RE: Finding out Who has high DA\PA and getting a backlink
Keep in mind that Domain Authority is a Moz metric, and not a metric that the search engines use for ranking. It's correlated with how well things tend to rank, but shouldn't be used as the final judgment for a link. Chapter 7 of the Beginner's Guide to SEO at http://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo deals with links and can give some good ideas of how to get started.

RE: Page Authority dropped to 1 for subdirectory in my site
We update our metrics about once a month, so if the site on the subdomain was launched after our last index update in July, that would be why you're not seeing any data. Our next update is scheduled for August 28th.

RE: New to MOZ, can't create a campaign.
If you do have problems in the future, could you send us a note at [email protected]? There's some one-on-one help we can give you with a couple of alternatives. Thanks!
-
RE: How long until competetive link metrics show up?
That information will show up on the next Open Site Explorer index update, if the competitors weren't added right at the very creation of the campaign. Our next index is update is scheduled for August 28th. Alternatively, you can re-create the campaign and enter your competitors at the setup, and we'll get that information from the current index.

RE: Weekly Custom Reports Send Duplicates
Are the reports identical, or different? Right now, if we get more data in that exceeds the minimum amount of data we use to release a report, we'll send along a fresh report. We're working on a way to handle this more gracefully, and the newest report should have the most information.
-
RE: How Does Moz Assign Domain Authority?
DA and PA are numbers that help you see how you're doing relative to competitors, and they can change with each update, depending on our index. They are something interesting to look at and can give you a rough idea of how you're doing, but they are numbers that Moz developed, based on our crawls. The search engines don't use our metrics, as they have a much bigger dataset, more statisticians than we have employees, and many more factors they take into account. EGOL does have a good approach here.

RE: New to MOZ, can't create a campaign.
So glad to hear that, and thanks for letting us know that it's fixed!

RE: Difference between External Followed Links and Total External Links?
Total External Links are all of the links to the site.
External Followed Links are just those links to the site that are followed (they do not have a "nofollow" tag added to the link).
-
RE: How GOOGLE can re-index my site as possible as?
Google will often choose its own snippet to display in the SERPs, based on the search query the user has typed in. You can have the best meta description in the world, but they may choose to ignore it. Same with title tag.

RE: Bounce Rate Manipulated with Direct Traffic Spikes - Thoughts?
I'm about to run out the door, but take a quick look at this thread and the update he links to. There's a known issue out there with IE7 direct visits being really funky right now.

RE: Google+ What is up with results?
Hi Sarah,
This is a bit of an old question, and at this point it'd be best to ask your question in a new question for better visibility. Thanks!

RE: My data is stuck and hasn't updated from a few weeks back
I'd actually start out with an email to [email protected] so that we can take a look at things and see what is up, and this way you won't lose any data. Thanks, and sorry you're seeing problems!

RE: Wondering why PR hasn't increased?
The PageRank that is reported to users on the Toolbar is updated only a couple of times a year these days, and is known to only be an approximation of the actual PR (Google themselves have said this).
Google does have an internal PR they use that is frequently updated, but not revealed to users.

RE: Site redesign..have I done everything?
Here's one post that can help: http://moz.com/blog/web-site-migration-guide-tips-for-seos
Are you changing URLs at all, even if it's just file extensions (adding/removing .html)? Are you changing domains? Adding/removing pages?
Ruth Burr did an extensive webinar (available at http://moz.com/webinars/domain-migrations-lessons-from-the-moz-transition) that covered when we transitioned from seomoz.org to moz.com and did a lot of URL changes.
If you give us some more details, we can help with some more ideas.

RE: Is YouMoz not working
It's not a universal problem, as I did see several submissions come in in the last few hours. Does this happen in a different browser too? If you want to email me directly about this, I'm [email protected] and can help investigate this for you.

RE: I Mistakenly uploaded Disavow File to Non WWW version of Webiste in Webmaster Tools...is this a Problem???
TAGFEE stands for our core values of Transparent, Authentic, Generous, Fun, Empathetic, and Exceptional. I perhaps should have instead linked to our Community Etiquette page at http://moz.com/community/blog-disclaimer.
In short, let's keep this Q&A discussion related to the question -- what to do when the disavow file is uploaded to the non-www version of a domain instead of the www version in GWT.

RE: I Mistakenly uploaded Disavow File to Non WWW version of Webiste in Webmaster Tools...is this a Problem???
[moderator hat on]
Just a quick reminder, this is Moz, and we ask that you be TAGFEE in your tone. No need to invoke Godwin's Law in Q&A. Thanks!

RE: Are High Domain Authority, Low Page Authority Links Good?
Is it a good page? Is it helpful to people? Is it related to the link's destination? Would you trust the page? If the search engines disappeared or stopped using links in rankings, would you still want the link?

RE: Google Remarketing Targeting
I'm not involved too much in remarketing, but generally the programs have a way that if the customer goes to a specified page (such as the "thank you for completing your order" page), they'll get a pixel that will opt them out of the remarketing.
At Moz, we have it set so that if you log in to your Pro account and visit your dashboard, a pixel is fired so you don't have Roger following you around advertising to you on the web or FB.

RE: SEO Audit for site redesign
Lesley, if you edit your profile, you can change your nickname that's displayed here. I think that would be a helpful thing to do here, as the current nickname is leading to a bit of confusion. I'd ask the same of anyone that had a nickname like "Wordpress" or "Magento" that wasn't a direct representative of that company.
You can also uncheck the box that says to use your nickname, and you can use you real name for posting instead.
As Robert mentioned, it could be a good idea to include some context with your answer. "I realize that our company is an alternative to product x, but here's why I think there are some issues with product x" and including an outside referenced link could be helpful all around.
Thanks!

RE: Huge Spike in Direct Traffic from IE7
I'm seeing a few reports on that in the comments of the SER piece at http://www.seroundtable.com/direct-traffic-ie7-analytics-18897.html, too.

RE: Site has disappeared since Panda 4 despite quality content, help!
With a bounce rate that low, do you by chance have multiple GA tracking scripts, or something that's triggering an event even if no one goes to another page? Look at the source code when you're in incognito mode, in case your CMS suppresses one of the GA codes when you're logged in as admin.
[voice of experience and learning the hard way here!]

RE: Googlebot size limit
Roger is very reluctant to delete questions, and feels that it most cases, it's not TAGFEE to do so. Usually by the time the original poster wants to delete a question, there are multiple responses, and deleting the questions would also remove the effort the other community members have put in to answer the question, and remove the opportunity for other people to learn from the experience.

RE: F6s-tier12 how to access with same account of my mozpro campaign?
When did you get the email, and who is it from? We haven't used the seomoz.org domain since May, 2013.
[edit] I searched my records, and this appears to be a promotion that was done in 2012 and is likely no longer valid, and was valid for new users only. I'm contacting the right people at Moz to make sure this is removed on our end to prevent further confusion. Thanks for pointing it out!

RE: How to invite email contacts to like your Facebook, LinkedIn
If it's someone from high school or my early work career, where they would have known me under my maiden name, I send them a note and let them know who it is. Otherwise, I personally only do friend / connection requests with people that I know will know who I am.
When I get a LinkedIn request from someone I don't know (and we have no connections in common, I have no community history, etc.) I'll report them as spam. When I get it from someone who might be familiar, I ask them to remind me how we know each other.
In short: be personal and don't spam.
